LAND RENT COLLECTION

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) would like to inform all Land Rent Payers as follows:

1. All Land Rent payers were expected to pay the annual land rent for 2007 and any outstanding arrears by 31st January 2007. Any amount outstanding after this date attracts interest at 1% per month or part thereof.

 

2. Due to overwhelming public response, and request to extend the deadline, the Minister for Lands has extended the deadline from 31st January 2007 to 31st March 2007. The extension however, does not waive any interest accrued after the 31st January, 2007 deadline.

 

3. All Land Rent Payers are therefore advised to clear all outstanding amounts before the 31st March 2007.  Legal action shall be instituted against defaulters after the expiry of the extension.

 

4. All Land Rent payments should be by bankers’ cheques, cash or, bank guaranteed cheques. Payments should be made ONLY to the appointed Commercial Banks (National Bank of Kenya, Kenya Commercial Bank, Co-operative Bank of Kenya) using Form LRT2. The paying in slips (LRT2) are available in all branches of the appointed commercial banks.

 

5. All Land Rent payments should be made payable to ‘‘Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, Land Rent Collection, Account – ‘Name of Land Owner. NB: Please specify the LR Number at the back of the cheque.

 

6. The Land Rent Payers are advised that land rent payments should not be made to the District Treasuries.

 

7. In case of payment on arrears, Land Rent Payers are advised to obtain the correct amounts from the Ministry of Lands.
