LODGEMENT OF INWARD REPORT

Members of the Shipping industry are notified that the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004 (hereinafter referred to as “the EAC CMA”) requires the master or agent of an aircraft or vessel to make an inward report of such aircraft or vessel, its cargo and stores upon arrival in the port of entry, to the proper officer in the prescribed form.

Under Section 24 of the EAC CMA, the master or agent is deemed to be the ship’s captain or shipping agent. The Customs Law does not delegate that authority to any other party. In this regard, Kenya Revenue Authority will not accept inward reports lodged by persons other than those recognized by the law.
