Kenya Revenue Authority would like to warn the public that some unscrupulous individuals are misleading taxpayers by pretending to be bonafide Customs Clearing Agents.

The public should kindly note that all Clearing Agents are registered by the Kenya Revenue Authority and are issued with Customs Agents Licenses which can be verified by any importer. If in doubt of the registration status, the public are advised to confirm with the office of the Commissioner Customs Services Department.

All cheques for payment of customs duty and other import and export taxes should be addressed as follows: Commissioner of Customs Services A/c Name of Importer, or Clearing Agent, if ONLY the Agent has paid the taxes on behalf of the importer from the Clearing Agent’s own finances.
