COLLECTION OF LAND RATES

The Kenya Revenue Authority and Municipal Council of Mombasa wish to inform the Public and all Stakeholders that the Kenya Revenue Authority will collect land rates on behalf of Municipal Council of Mombasa with effect from 1st February 2005.

A land rates pay-in slip (LR1) will be available at the branches of the Kenya Commercial Bank Limited countrywide for use in the payment process as follows:

  • (a) Each pay-in slip will be completed at the bank in quadruplicate on presentation of bills attracting land rates.
  • (b) Payments will be made by cash, banker's cheque or bank guaranteed cheques.
  • (c) The original (White) copy will be retained by the person paying land rates as proof of payment, but will be authenticated by the duplicate copy.
  • (d) The duplicate (Blue) copy will be forwarded to the Municipal Council for their records.
  • (e) The triplicate (Green) copy will be forwarded to the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes by the bank.
  • (f) The quadruplicate (Yellow) copy will be retained by the bank for their records.
  • (g) The Municipal Council will bear the bank charges.
All stakeholders are advised that transactions outside this arrangement will be null and void.

The Kenya Revenue Authority and the Municipal Council of Mombasa therefore appeal for cooperation from all Stakeholders in there endeavour to enhance revenue collection on behalf of the Municipal Council of Mombasa.

All stakeholders are hereby further informed that the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Municipal Council of Mombasa will in due course issue a Public Notice on Collection of Single Business Permit Fees.
